In case you were unaware (even though I talk/write about it on a regular basis), when we moved into this house almost 3 years ago we did a complete rehaul of the kitchen. Every nook and cranny of it was put into place based on my wants and desires. And until now, the only unfinished part of it has been the tile backsplash. That, my friends, will change in the very near future.
My husband has been working insane hours lately, and it has taken a toll on both of us. He feels guilty, I feel exhausted and lonely, and it's just been...no fun. Even though i've told him repeatedly that he doesn't need to "make it up to me", he insisted. And in a gesture I can only describe as utterly romantic, he said he was finally going to buy the tile backsplash i've been talking about for the last 2.5 years.
Tomorrow we are planning to go look at some tile and hopefully make an appointment to get it installed. However, even though I have wanted this for so long, i've had a few ideas in my head in terms of what kind of tile we should get. And now that the moment is here, I feel....unsure. I love glass tile, but I don't know what color to get based on the design scheme of my kitchen. I want something that's not too BLAM! in-your-face, but rather something that works well with the kitchen colors and is not too high maintenance. I'm hoping when we go check out our options tomorrow that something will just appear to me with angels singing and an unmistakeable light shining down on it, but just in case, what would you suggest? Here's a photo of the current set up and one of the walls that will be getting the tile treatment.
So, friends, what do you think? I think anything red will be too much, but I definitely want a solid color (not embellishments or patterned tile). I'm a fan of subway tile, but I don't know...do you think that would be a good shape and match for this decor? In other words, HELP!

I would suggest a glass subway tile that is a pale green, almost the color of your side bar? It's a fairly neutral color, pairs well with red and the colors in your cabinets and counter-tops.
I would also recommend a SUPER thin grout line, like so think it's near non-existent because grout is a pain in the butt in a back-splash.

I have been looking at backsplashs for EVER... here is the current one I am favoring. Not sure of the color but love the super long glass at different intervals.

Thank you, ladies! I think i've decided on a glass tile in a sand color, with brick red glass tile accents. Not what I expected to like, but it works (at least for me)!
